18 Sep Presentation to SIGNUS of the Value-Rubber project
Representatives of SIGNUS, the Collective System for the management of end-of-life tires in Spain, have attended by videoconference the presentation of the Value-Rubber tire recycling project that is being coordinated from Alhama de Murcia.
SIGNUS Ecovalor is a non-profit entity created in May 2005 at the initiative of the main tire manufacturers, with the purpose that it can be used as a mechanism with which all producers who wish to do so can comply with the obligations imposed on them by the spanish Royal Decree 1619/2005. SIGNUS’ mission is to respond to society’s need to live in a sustainable environment, guaranteeing the correct environmental management of end-of-life tires from their generation to their transformation into valuable raw materials.
Alejandro Arribas, Head of R + D + i of the Footwear and Plastic CT, presented the Value-Rubber project to the attendees: Leticia Saiz, Director of the SIGNUS Development and Innovation Department, Roberto Pérez, Development and Innovation Technician from SIGNUS, and Isabel Sánchez, CETEC Project Technician, who has been part of the development of Value-Rubber.
SIGNUS has emphasized the importance of this type of project to diversify existing tire recycling outlets, as well as being an opportunity to use recycled rubber in new applications with greater added value. SIGNUS’ interest in monitoring Value-Rubber will materialize with visits to the pilot plant when the project is at a more advanced stage and the situation caused by COVID19 allows it.
